Special Offer on EQ Assessments in February

Remember how much fun it was to measure your own growth as a child? My father designated a family growth chart next to a bookshelf. I loved watching my son make his own black line on the wall, complete with name, date, and height. He was thrilled to see that yes, he was in fact growing-- some years at an astonishing rate!

It's useful to measure what matters to us and to delight in how we are changing for the better.

Those of you who have been following me on Twitter know that my focus for the month of February has been on Emotional Intelligence. Why? Research has confirmed that successful leaders and star performers have well developed emotional intelligence skills. In fact, a person's (EQ) emotional intelligence may be a better predictor of success than intelligence (IQ).

This isn't surprising because people with high EQs have conquered the 7 most common fears: fear of criticism, financial problems, loss of love & approval, sickness, aging, death and public speaking. These people have conquered the habitual voices of fear in themselves, and they know how to connect effectively with colleagues in every emotional state.

The good news? EQ isn't fixed. People who want to raise their EQs can.

How do you know whether you have well developed emotional intelligence skills?

Start by taking a 15-minute assessment.

The assessment I use, TTI's Emotional QuotientTM report, looks at a person's ability to sense, understand and effectively apply the power and acumen of emotions to facilitate higher levels of collaboration and productivity.

The report was designed to provide insight into two broad areas: Intrapersonal and Interpersonal emotional intelligence. Specifically, it measures the 5 competencies of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.

What will you get out of the report? You'll get a baseline of how you relate to yourself and others, and you'll receive specific suggestions for improvement. In 6 months or a year, you can take the assessment again to see what kind of progress you have made in developing your emotional intelligence skills.
